how to stop brake dust build up...
 

one option is brembo...but is there any covers available to go between the rotor and wheel......and is that safe.......

Do some searching around here and you'll find tons of info on this. Don't go with the dust shields...

Yeah I've heard of people having issues with the anti-brake dust stuff, good luck!

I talked to Brembo also. The tech guys say, more dust=better stopping ability.

I can tell you that anti-brake-dust paste/wax doesn't work worth crap. Amazing to me that a product can be marketed for a specific purpose, and make little (if any) difference! I suppose it might have resulted in my front wheels not looking like hell for 4 days instead of 3, but that's about it; I sure won't go to the trouble of applying it again! :thumbdown

I plan to try low-dust pads, but until then, the best solution seems to be "the old fashioned" approach, i.e., wash the car more often... :dunno: ;)

Skip the dust shields. Check out Axxis pads from Zeckhausen.

I have used dust shields on a number of cars (e.g., Porsche 951, BMW X5). If you are not doing spirited braking, such as during autocrossing, I do not believe they will cause wheel damage. However, although dust shields do reduce the amount of dust on the outside of the wheel (i.e., extend the wheel cleaning interval) the dust really builds up on the inside. (Also it's tougher to clean the wheels.) I took mine off and just clean the wheels more often.

Don't bother with the dust shields. IMO, they look weird and although cut down the dust a little, the oem pads will still make a mess. Go with the Axxis dustless pads. No dust for weeks. I've used them on 2 of my X5s and they work great.
