Question about the head lights
 

Hi everyone! Just want to ask if there is any difference between headlights for LHD car and for RHD car. I am considering of replacing my X's headlights, will there be any problem if I install headlights for LHD car on my RHD car? Thanks and forgive my stupid question.

the only difference is the level at which the light beam in aiming...it should be lower on the driving side...

yes, the beam adjustment would need to be changed...and no question is a stupid one...:D :thumbup:

ummm...you can adjust them yourself in front of a wall...

means the headlight itself got no difference...only adjustment you have to do ;)

One more question: as I know, the original bulb for my fog light, low beam light and high beam light are: 55W HB3, 55W H7 and 65W HB3 respectively. Can I change the bulbs to those consume higher watt like 80W or even 100W (Philips Rally lights)? Will it burn out the bulb base if I use those higher watt bulbs? Thanks!

The only difference you need to account for is going to be for the beam pattern - specifically the "step". I know that in the US, the beam pattern is stepped lower on the left side so that oncoming drivers are not blinded as much by the direct light. That's becasue we drive on the right.

I guess if you drive on the left with a RHD car, then the beam pattern will be exactly opposite. So if you were to swap headlamps from car to car, you will be more prone to blinding oncoming drivers.

The beam pattern is different. For RHD there is higher part of the beam to illuminate road signs etc. to the right of the vehicle. For LHD that higher part is to the left.
In order to prevent dazzeling other drivers you will have to aim your lights extra low. Too low to be of proper use for you.
I have an example of a Japenese X5 headlight that has an extra lever that modifies the beam pattern to "flat-top" to allow the vehicle to be used in RHD areas without problem.
