Brakes (squealing)

Ok, so I just bought my x5 a little over a month ago. About 2 weeks ago it was in for the 60,000 mile Tech II. I have noticed about a week ago that occasionally when breaking I would hear a squeal (indicating pads might be getting low). That seems to have stopped recently.

Also, I would thnk that they would have looked at that during Tech II, wouldn't they have?

I don't want to take it in and waste money (and time), but I also don't want to have to do new rotors if I don't need to.

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,

- Brent

did they change your pads during inspection II? new pads squeel until they get bedded in right. your dealer probably didnt bed them in after replacement. i usually spray some anti-squeel on the pads whenever i replace them.

I don't think they did. I think Inspection II just calls for them to look at it, and they didn't make any reccomendations to change them up. I do know they did a brake flush, because I paid for it.

Alright, so a new recent development.

Now when the car sits for 24 hours or more if I start moving slowly and brake, I hear a kind of grinding sound. This stops however after the first break. They did not put on new pads or rotors during Inspection II.

There was however an issue w/ the Axel that should have been caught during the CPO process that they agreed to bite the bullet on (cost t1400 for a remanufactured axel, dealership covered)

The car was taken in with 60569 miles on it on Jan 30, it now has 61500 miles on it.

I am curious, it appears that break pad inspection is part of inspection II. I am wondering since they screwed up on the axel if the stealer purposely did not bring up the break pads because it should have been covered under CPO as well (they can't sell the car as CPO if pads dont meet certain mm left on pad restriction) so they just neglected to say anything? I don't see how it would have killed the pads / rotors already with just 1k miles on it.

Am I off base here, or am I barking up the wrong tree?

Its brakes man, the spelling is funny that ppl still spell like that when they have money to buy a car, damn, i bet its just another lil toddler who got a x5 for his bday or some sh!t

Haha, first let me tell you that nothing was bought for me. I spent my own hard owned cash. I am just miffed at the stealer after the whole Axel fiasco, and just concerned that I was taken, and that they didnt address it during Inspection II.

So a little bit nicer post may have been in order :)

This is hilarious. Lower case "i", "aint" instead of "am not", "judgin" instead of "judging", and "spelt" instead of "spelled". All this in a post commenting on the incorrect spelling of "brakes"

I am not judging either, but come on man....
