Fluids - List of Warranty Covered Items
Just got the X back from the dealer for hopefully the last visit before warranty expires.
They even gave me a free oil change to boot even though I did not ask for it. I did ask them to check and R/R pads and rotors :stickpoke :stickpoke :stickpoke ....but the tech reported they were fine. For those that are new or dunno, on the X, just another Repost on fluids covered under Warranty You are entitled to a free brake flush every 2 years. Oil changes whenever the light is up, or every 1 year regardless of lights or mileage. Coolant Flush is covered as well. On the coolant flush, I do not know what the time period is on this and didn't even realize it was covered until one of the stealers sent in a reminder stating u have not been in for a visit lately, blah, blah. So the only thing remaining that's on your dime and time is power, diffys and tranny. All of which I recommend as well, if you intend on keeping your X past the 4 yr mark. Hell, on diffys alone, I prefer 30K changes. |
Good info, but a couple of clarifications:
1) No fluids are covered under warranty in terms of replacement. You are referring to the maintenance plan. Warranty only covers defects. 2) There are three levels of maintenance plan: Full, scheduled, and none. The US has full maintenance. Canada (and possibly elsewhere) has scheduled maintenance, which means only those items scheduled at a set time. For example, brakes are not covered in Canada because they are a wear item, unlike with full maintenance in the US. Finally, many countries have no maintenance included with the vehicle. Those countries still have a warranty (time and mileage limits vary) but warranties don't cover wear and maintenance items. |
