Expansion Tank Pipe Replacement ?
So cleaning the engine bay and I hear a snap. I'm going to order the part tomorrow, but attemtping to avert breaking anyting else, so I'll ask how to remove this hose w/o breaking the expansion tank.
I broke # 8 in this diagram http://www.realoem.com/bmw/diagrams/i/m/239.png Do I have to undo this metal clip that looks like a bi.tch or http://www.kcbmwclub.com/gallery/d/10809-2/X3+008.jpg or this plastic part? If plastic joint how do you undo w/o breaking anything else? http://www.kcbmwclub.com/gallery/d/10806-2/X3+007.jpg Thanks In advance! |
I just had to replace my expansion tank. It split right on the seem. The BMW Coolant cost more than the sum of the remaing parts. $21 gallon. Anyway to answer your question, pull the clip up and pull the hose off. Second picture.

Thanks!

Use a flat screwdriver and wedge it between the hose and the reservoir connection, twist the screwdriver side to side to lose up the hose off the reservoir, do it gently, just like Supersteve said from the second pic., and dont take the bolts that hold the res. down off 'til all the hoses are disconnected, that way you have more support to pull the hoses off.
Good luck. |
