For Those With Superchargers

I just had a Dinan S/C installed on my 03 4.4 last week. I don't drive the car in winter and I decided to take it out today. I was anxious to drive it with the s/c. I was told that as the computer adapts to your driving and the s/c I will notice it getting faster. I am having trouble wording this properly. Obviously it will be faster with the s/c, but I was told it will even get faster as the computer adapts. Can anyone with a Dinan s/c give me some input

I think there are only 2 others on this board with SC's, so don't be surprised if it takes a while to get a response. I would suggest that you send a PM to kirkx5m, he has a Dinan SC on a 2003 4.6.

I'm not sure what they're talking about regarding your X5 getting faster as the X5's computer adapts, but I doubt that it does so. The shifting might adapt (i.e., shift at higher RPMs) if you start driving more aggressively, but that has nothing to do with power. My guess is that, at a given RPM in a given gear, the power of your X5 with the s/c will be the same 2 years from now as it was the first day after the s/c was installed (assuming your X5's software was tuned for the s/c).

You might find other info of interest in the thread about my 2003 4.6is:

congrats. i think what they meant is the ECU has new power it needs to know about, so just drive your car and give it plenty of gas so it properly used all the ponies you now have under the hoood. takes a bit of time for the entire thing to come together nicely is what they meant.

I don't agree. The air/fuel/spark/injector pulse width/MAF tables have been tweaked to compensate for the s/c. It's not going to "re-learn" anything. As one person said, the power you have now will be the same in two years. This isn't artificial intelligence...

Just pray they mapped it all correctly or you'll be replacing head gaskets, rings, pistons, rods down the road.
