Have you tried disconnecting the battery overnight?

Otherwise it sounds like you need the hatch mechanism replaced.

nahh... i dont think thats the problem seems to me like its a programming issue. Something i must've touched programmed my trunk to open every time i shut off the car! I'm sure they could reprogram it at the stealer but i was thinking there's gotta be a way to do this myself!

Don't think the menus have anything to do with your hatch. Something must have been shorted and this might coincide with when you were fiddling with the menus.

you might wanna take it to the dealer and have them readjust the sensitivity of the hatch release.. i had the same problem the hatch would release while i was driving ..

Ya... There is no menu that will open the hatch when you shut the car off. Definitely take it to the dealer. Something is shorting.

I highly doubt it has anything to do with you did....oh well, good luck!

yeah.. I agree with Chris.. I had the same problem with mine.. it was a chafed harness leading to the hatch mechanism. Common problem.

Where is this harness thing you speak of? Maybe I should try seeing if mine is chafed, with regards to my post over here about a similar problem...

THE problem is not the hatch mechanism, programming or any thing you did while fiddling aorund with the submenus the problem is your hatch grab handle needs to be replaced with updated version and you will also need to repair the wires it seems that water has a tendency of making its way into the hatch assembly connector and then it starts corroding the wiring, any dealer schould know of this issue,it is common problem.
