4.8is Rear silencers...Stainless steel or not!!
 

Here in Europe the rear silencers for the 4.8is are also far cheaper (some 300usd)than the ones for the 4.6is!!!!!Since they are similar ,I am interested in finding out why such a price difference?I was wondering if they are made of the same steel as the 4.6is??I was contemplating fitting these on my 3.0 Diesel but not sure now because if the 4.8is's are not stainless steel ,they will rust easily!
Could someone with a 4.8is confirm this!All you need to do to confirm if your silencers are made of stainless steel is to get hold of a "magnet".If the magnet does not stick to your silencers,then they are stainless steel. :) The complete exhaust system on my car is made of stainless steel!

The magnet stuck!

It stick to the chrome tips part but moving back it does not. I did not go too far in as its dark now. Should be the same for you ktulu.

Yeh I guess my wifes blonde hair has rubbed off. The shiny stuff is not stainless! DOH! But the inside of the Shiny stuff must be. Magnet no sticky sticky! Never gotten that intimate with the exhaust....very nice quality I must say.

Just got my oem 4.8 rear silencers(REF.B18.10.7.529.453 & 454) and the magnet doesnt stick to the chrome tips,so they are stainless steel!The whole rear system is stainless steel with the exception of some tubing inside the silencers.It looks fantastic,really well made and with my trade discount they cost me 685 euros(575 usd),a snitch!!!!!
