Facelifted 02 pics :)

I finally got a chance to charge my camera and take some night pics. I spent most of the day trying to figure out how to turn my angel eyes on through a switch in the cig lighter compartment. After 5 hours I figured it out. I like how the angel eyes look without the orange signals on. Here's how they look, btw they're OEM. I might upgrade, but i kinda like the stock look.

Your X looks beautiful !

Post pics in the daylight?

Looks good. Where's the How-To?

Also what did you use to mount the button on the dash area? I have a remote switch that is just dangling that needs to be mounted.

LeMansX5 03-17-2007 01:05 AM

Looks nice! Post some daytime pics as well.

I cut up an old wooden paint stirrer. lol I tried to use the metal cig holder but i messed it up. I still have to repaint the trim. Then, I attached the switch to it and then I glued it on.

Kris@modmynav 03-17-2007 02:04 AM

Nice work!
I also want to turn on the angel eyes only without amber lights :(

X5Jay 03-17-2007 08:28 AM

Yeah - we need a write-up on the solo AEs... Nice work!

SuperGreg 03-17-2007 09:54 AM

Very cool and original idea, looks great  . Like others have said, share some daylight pics as well please :)

Heres the link on how to wire the Angel eyes on a 2000-03 X5. Wiring it this way makes the AE's come on when the engine is running, the doors are first unlocked, doors are opened. #7 is the wire that will make them turn on with out the parking lights on. Thats what you guys wanted. I did them this way and they work, GL!

BTW your headlight is out :]

Wooden paint stirrer? joking right? I might try that.

dbhw2 03-17-2007 11:33 AM

lol both headlights are off, it looks like the passenger side is out in one of the pics, but that's just the glare from the AE's.

I swear it's a paint stirrer lol. It was just the right size and was easy glue and cut.

Wagner 03-17-2007 11:35 AM

Looks nice. That is one thing I love about the E60, both angle eyes are on as soon as the parking lights are on, slick look

noncom23 03-17-2007 12:18 PM

Good job!

Nice we're twins, is your foglight trim unpainted?

dbhw2 03-17-2007 02:34 PM

It's painted black, the bodyshop misunderstood my painting instructions. I'll have it painted when I get the rear add on and tailgate handle painted :) Btw, did you get ur angeleyes working? I remember u asked for suggestions before, if you want I'll write up a DIY for you. I was planning on doing one while I wired the Ae's but my camera was dead and the charger was nowhere to be found. You and Zulu95 where a great help in getting the facelift done. Thanks

Bostonblux5 03-17-2007 05:21 PM

Thanks, I haven't figured it out for sure yet, I was thinking about having them turn on when the ignition is on, but your way is cool too. Did you replace the radiator support in the front with the 4.8 one or did your bumper fit on without it?

dbhw2 03-17-2007 09:24 PM

The bumper fit on without a new radiator support. I'm just trying to figure out if the front corner parking sensors are different from the old ones since the bumper support won't allow the old ones to be put on. If I can't figure it out i'll just drill holes in the bumper support.lol

Bostonblux5 03-18-2007 08:11 PM

Well I guess I have the same issue then because my bumper doesn't match up properly where it meets the fenders. They told me I needed a new radiator support for it to match perfectly. I think they "modified" the existing support but that just allowed them to get the thing on... it still has the gap. Let me know if you figure out a solution. BTW the radiator support goes for 200-300 if I remember correctly.

Nice Job!!
