Looking good! Those are one of the best looking wheels for the E53.

What kind of rear spoiler is that? It doesn't look like the OEM 4.6is one.

Thanks - I wasn't sure about the chrome but the wife was!

The spolier looks kinda cool doesn't it. I simply painted the raised "spoiler" outline on the OEM bumper to simulate the 4.6 / 4.8 spolier.

Very creative solution! It's not clear in the pictures but now that you mention it, I can see it better. The only problem is that now you've got to balance it out in the front somehow. A 4.6is front spoiler might look good or perhaps the decorative skid plate in silver. :dunno:

jbimmer24 03-17-2007 05:59 PM

:iagree: that's a nice look....

1113mills 03-17-2007 06:00 PM

I'm getting the decorative skid plate next week.....I didn't want to be called a posser for getting the 4.8 spoliers:rofl:

Michelle 03-17-2007 06:51 PM

Nice new shoes! Very creative with the spoiler!

noncom23 03-17-2007 07:40 PM

Nice fookin' shoes!

Five0 03-17-2007 10:55 PM

Looks nice, what size tires? Can't tell if they are staggered.

JV 03-17-2007 11:57 PM

You'll love those 87's.

1113mills 03-18-2007 07:04 AM

They're staggered 275 F & 315 R

wow! nice ride! I love your solution to the blandness of the X5's rear. I have the decorative front skid plate and I'll definitely follow what you did to your rear "skirt". Nice idea man :)

Like your av of Dylan, too!

sunilgoureddy 03-18-2007 12:37 PM

very creative and looks great. Will it look good if i get it on my sterling gray X? Also, please post the pics after you install skid plate.

Estroil 4.8is 03-18-2007 12:40 PM

Nice looking! Looks like that rear spoiler came off a BMW X5 4.5i, get it not quite a 4.6is but not a 4.4i either, HA HA! anyways nice job.

gregwx5 03-18-2007 02:44 PM

nice looks good!!...I just painted my rear spoiler the same way!!! It looks good!

1113mills 03-18-2007 03:13 PM

Sweet....Maybe I've started a trend ;)

It's a little tricky taping it off isn't it??

dr.jay 03-18-2007 09:13 PM

Nice!!

wheelman 03-18-2007 09:56 PM

Stupid question but I guess you would need to get the paint from the BMW dealer right? I'm still torn between doing that or just saving the cash for the actual spoiler itself.

Big Al 03-19-2007 12:15 AM

Are your headlights original with the amber piece removed? Looks great with the clears and chrome rims. I have a 2000 X5 4.4 that I want to remove the amber corners.

fln8tive 03-19-2007 12:18 AM

Looks great...it is shoe time at my house, too.

Sweetbimmer 03-19-2007 01:21 AM

Nice tires..

I like your creativity a lot. With those tailpipes, it looks much more compact & sporty, to me, then 4.6is spoiler/pipes!
Your might wanna throw in running boards too!

Speaking about trend! Since your so good with taping, you can maybe paint lower part of front bumper before you install the decorative skid plate. Because I think it's impossible to put plate over 4.6is front spoiler!?!? I've never seen that combination before!

Picture below is KirkX5m's variation with 4.6is front spoiler and underride guard.
Curious about your opinion?http://cybergifs.com/faces/biggrin8.gif

Mike!

I don't think BMW makes, or I couldn't find any, spray paint. I simply matched a Ti paint from AutoZone. Make sure to clean the surface well and prep the area to be painted with adhesion promotor. It'll cost all of $10 and a couple hours of your time!

Yep...Headlight baking is a piece of cake. I wish I had removed the other lenses soooo, I'm going to re-bake, remove the lenses & install AEs soon. I did go ahead and install PIAA Extreme White bukbs all the way around (high, low & fog). What a differance.

Running boards are on the list...probably next month. I'm working on the interior now. So far I've got a hard wired V1 with conceeled display in the ashtray, BMW gas, brake & footrest pedals & chrome instrument rings. I've got a new M steering wheel on hand and woking my local stealer for a good price on the airbag & am about to order a Ti interior trim pakage (my light poplar will be for sale soon). I'll certainly post pics once complete but want to wait to get the full affect ;)

I thought about the front but there's not a clear line to delineate a egde :dunno:

lol ya it's tricky...I also just taped up some news papers to prevent over spray. I just used Krylon Mettalic silver paint from Home Depot...its held up very well for the past 2 years...I assume it would be much harder to match other colors...nonetheless it gives that extra color on the back bumper for very little money!!
