BMW TV activation

Just got my new BMW 3.0D Sport. With Communication Pack in Carbon Black.
Looks mint.
Sorry am english "mint" means really nice!

The TV is the new one with the digital tuner, so i pick up loads more channels! Great.

But... theres always a but. TV switches off when you drive. I know its a saftey thing! But its handy to entertain passengers and also the music channels are good.

I know that you can buy leads that activate the tv - tv in motion - they are around £80 GBpounds,
but are there any codes to get round this? I know that there were codes to unlock the TV, so you could watch while you drive ( sounds dangerous ha) for the passengers obviously.

Why pay if you can unlock it at home. People on Ebay are suggesting they know codes, to access service modes etc but then again why is this sort of knowledge not shared on this great web site.

Anyone know how to unlock the new TV's?? come on share with us all.

You can afford a new X5 and you can't spend £80 to buy the cable?

drex 06-22-2005 02:16 PM

uhh

well

if there was a code, it would be available here.........

try doing some research before insinuating there is a "code" that unlocks the TV.

there is a code, but it requires your TV tuner's EEPROM to be replaced with another.

its easier to buy the cable for a few quid, eh?

I have the code. I'll sell it to you for £90.

The code stopped working in 1999 with Mark II versions of the navigation unit

i forgot about that, monkey........

that's true. Pre Mark III and IV navs were unlocked with a code. Fortunately, the X5 did not ever come with a II unit, and therefore, has never used a code.

the older 7 series and 5 series did.......

MARK3 tv activation

Hi Everyone, i too was looking to get my 2003 X5's tv unlocked. In the end i found a company in Birmingham, a bloke came to my work, plugged into the diagnostics port and that was that. Took seconds and kept the kids quiet forever! The bloke i found worked for a company called Dashmasters 07813655351.

I purchased a tvon module from TvonNAV.com and it cost me 199.00 Usd!!Very happy with it.Got extra functions including steering wheel buttons control. As X5Monkey said, codes dont work on X5...........
80 GBPounds is very cheap.Alternatively, you can ask you dealer if they will activate Tv in motion but they will insist you sign a "irresponsibility letter"!

X5 Sport 10-28-2005 09:37 AM

Dealer cant turn it on anymore well at least not in the uk ! You will have to buy a lead to make it work. But i will warn you TV does not work that good on the move only any good if stuck in traffic saves keep pulling the hand brake up.
