Wood trim kit fix?????

Well I bought a complete wood trim kit from a member here, didn't have the shifter knob (which he said) but some of the pieces were cracked. Not impressed but what do you want for $350.

I was wondering if there is a way to strip off just the clear coat and get them re-clear-coated (nice new word formation there)

Thanks for any help/ideas

Andrew

I have two pieces that need to be re-clear-coated as well!! I wonder if it's possible?

Any wood workers out there?

Mine is starting to crack too, presumably from the cold, even though mine lives in a heated garage and has yet to be left out in the cold. Its never been colder than about 35 inside the X5.
Yet more proof that BMW forgot to do their cold weather testing...

Stripping is usually the easy part. The repair/refinish is more difficult. I've done it with rifle stocks and it takes a while to do right.

I thought the wood trim pieces were actually plastic? I got a light surface scratch in one of mine and I just sanded it with some #600 and then used some polishing compound. Worked great.
