about to do this with my X, i plan to remove the old one and then stick on the new one, possible with some additional double sided molding tape. as far as air bag going off... if it goes off at all by smashing the roundel with a hammer to get it off then its a bad design. and once its stuck i am 100% certain that it will not cause additional damage to "your person" in the event of an airbag deployment.

This may make application of a stick on badge difficult, I guess it depends on how thick the double sided tape is. Can you tell me where you got your stick on badge? |
ebay.
they are pretty good, the B M W text is not as sharp as i'd like. they look good and do what i wanted. decent price as well. 7X BMW FULL Real Carbon Emblem E39 E60 E53 E90 M3 M5 X5: eBay Motors (item 160328963762 end time Jun-10-10 21:33:01 PDT) |
So i removed the Center one and put this guy on.

I have an oem emblem for the steering wheel airbag, it comes with the airbag cover though. I will sell it for what i paid for it.

i just replaced all my badges with the black carbon fiber ones. for the steering wheel i just popped the old one off, trimmed away the ridges and stuck the new one on. worked good.
