Tyrecontrol Inactive

I have a 2001 X5 that has been into a main dealer garage 5 times for the same fault. TYRECONTROL INACTIVE fault command pops up daily, they replaced several sensors but the fault continues. The dealer then stated that this is a common problem and I should live with it. Anyone else had this problem and any solutions?

I never had that message come up when i had an '01. What a b.s. thing for the dealer to say. how incompetent are they? "hey, we're idiots and can't figure out the problem so live with it"... you should say "my pen is broken i can't write you a check for the car, deal with it"

Never heard of "TyreControl" warning...Maybe the DSC sensors?
From memory of reading this and a couple/three other boards,
your prob is Not common; Stlr is bs'ing you.

RDC (Reifen Druck Control)
You have a button next to [DSC] that say [RDC], hold that button until the display is 100% filled eith "XXXXXXXXXXXX" and after that it will say "Tire Pressure Set". Or check in your manual for details abouat RDC.

Hope this helps, good luck!

If I am remembering correctly, the tire pressure monitor on the early E53's reads the wheel speed sensors, and reads them through communication with the DSC module. I seem to remember the TPM module as a small white box about the size of a pack of cigarettes, maybe you could look up the location and wiring schematics in the online WDS link at the top of the page. If only all dealers/techs/advisers had the brain power to diagnose something other than part replacement...

Since he is in Europe, is likely that he has pressure sensors in the wheels, like me.
