those of you with the 4.8 any know problems?

I recently traded my wife's 4.6 in for a Cayenne S (2004), not the best move...she drove it for a couple of weeks and deemed it to lack power, so I said lets get the Cayenne Turbo. great power, okay handling nothing like the 4.6 we had. yes if you search the forums I posted about getting rid of the 4.6, well wish we didn't do it. Lost a few bucks by going from the 4.6 to the S to the Turbo....anyway we like the turbo but it lacks the soul and the handling that the x5 had.

We personally don't like the new X5 so we may look to get another x5 but would like to get into a 4.8. Anyway are there any known problems to look for we really didn't have many problems with the 4.6...

Thanks.

So make her happy, get 4.8is. Shouldn't more problems than with 4.6is, generally 4.8is more reliable vs. 4.6is, in addition it's newer, less ml, new engine... ect. But shit happens so it is really hard to predict in that area.

so ur sayin the cayenne turbo does not have "that power" that the 4.6 did... hmm, makes me re think about my arch enemy the caynne turbo vs my 4.8.. the reason i say this is because yes yes i know the 4.8 is zero to 60 in 6flat while the cayenne turbo is 5.2-5.6 in zero to 60... to me, these times are all due to reaction time, and how u launch the two cars.. and i think bmw under-rates their cars, i think my 4.8 can do a zero to 60 in around 5.5-5.7 easily, and i also think my reaction and my launch strategies and how well i know how to launch my 4.8 will be better then my friends cayenne turbo that im supposed to race sometime soon:driver:

and im gettin two mods soon that should give me a bit more power..followed by a dyno test :)

cayenne turbo:gun:

Hey Imola, you should read the thread again. It's the S that didn't have enough power, not the turbo...

I understand about the Cayenne. Even though the Turbo is quick,
its thin on handling and low in stance. Nothing like sitting high in an X5.
Go 4.8. No difference in the problems with your 4.6 and better maintenance warranty availability than your Turbo. Maybe a 2006? fwiw.

Our '06 4.8 has been great so far. The only problem was a squeaky fan blower bearing which was replaced under warranty. Otherwise, awesome power, handling, and exhaust note. It still turns heads when you fire it up and hear that V8 growl.
