pressure washer question
Hi, I'm thinking about investing in a pressure washer to clean the x and other things. Just wondering, which psi is safe on the x? I don't want to damage anything. Thanks.

Skip it, imo...use your garden hose, or the
occasional car wash wand...the last thing your paint and stuff needs is a blast from a pressure washer. Semi-ok for decks one doesn't care about, but not for cars. Do some noodling in the Detail Forum. |
Pressure washers are okay..........only for the wheelwells and underbody, and I guess wheels. So if you wanted to blast sand and salt from the underbody, fine. But car paint? Forget it.

i have a Karcher electric pressure washer...about 1600psi.
It doesnt feel as powerful as the pay-carwash...but it does a great job. |
Definitely be careful using a pressure washer on any part. I would be especially careful of painted plastic surfaces that paint doesn't like to adhere to much anyway. A friend of mine blasted paint from the bumper of his M-B using a Karcher pressure washer.

I guess the 4-wheeled BMW owner's manuals are a lot more forgiving than the ones for their bikes -- BMW Motorcycles = NO pressure washing, ever. They will void your warranty if they find any evidence one was used.

Ah, I see, they have a "prolonged exposure" clause. :)

Invest in one ! I myself have a 1200psi Karcher electric pressure washer and it comes with different attachments for specific uses. Power wash that salt away.( I noticed you are from Canada). Its awesome! And No it will not hurt your paint. |
