What is the redline of the 4.8is??

In many magazine or just check in the net the spec of the 4.8is...

It says that this car has 7200rpm redline.

I check and the trans just rev to 6500rpm and I can't hold the gear for more rpm.

How I can take advantage to that and try to rev at least 7000rpm to get more power!!

Thanks for response!!

The redline is 7k and if the trans will not hold a gear till redline at full throttle there is something wrong with the tranny

TRD,

I remembered your post and actually looked down at my tach today during full acceleration.
My 4.8is shifts promptly at 6500 RPM also. This is in DS mode, D mode, even in manual, it auto shifts sometimes even before 6500.

Now on our cluster, the YELLOW hash mark is at 6500. The RED hash mark is at 7000.
It would seem as though the cpu on the car is triggered to make the car shift at 6500 peak. Again, I only tested a few times but will examine it again soon.

Ok, this is untested but I am heading out the door right now to try it out. I believe that 7k is only hit in manual mode. Start with spirited driving after start, setting remapped shift points. After it has hit warm up drop it into manual and press the pedal past the kick down point. I am almost positive this will get you to 7k.

Back with results soon.

No, it doen't let you rev more than 6500 rpm neither in manual or auto mode!!
