New guy checking in
Hellooooooooo everybody. Well I finally did it, went out the other night to "Just look" at the X5 and I ended up bringing it home. I purchased an 04 edit: Estrol blue X5 4.8is with 30K miles and I am loving it. This is my first BMW and I have to say it is a very fun car and it has so many fetures I find myself for the first time reading the owners manual. I do however have a couple of questions concernig TSB's and Recalls, I have made an appointment for this weekend to take it back to the dealer to have all of these issues resolved. Before I take it to the dealer I wanted to run it by all of you to get your comments or sugestions. First off here are the TSB's I have found so far.
TSB's 1. # 07142004 2. # 07122004 3. # 110504 4. # 1220404 5. # 2420205 Recalls 1. # 04V344000 2. # 04V402000 3. # 03V475000 4. # 04V409000 Also is there a way the dealer can program the DRL's? I do not have them on my X5 and would like them if possable. Thanks for your help and I look forward to getting to know you all, great job on the fourm. Here are a cople of pics of my ride. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...2/IMG_0254.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...2/IMG_0255.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...2/IMG_0257.jpg http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...2/IMG_0256.jpg |
Bulldog, Congrats on your new ride and welcome to
The Board for X info and almost any other topic under the sun! When you hit your Stlr, have him "run your key" and he should be able to tell you/print out your car's service history and any TSB/Recall work that's been done. I'd skip the DRLs: it's a wave of headlights out there on the highway these days. Not sure it's any benefit to you and we poor M'cycle riders are "lost" in that wall of headlights. But, if you gotta have them, only the Dlr can program them; he may or may not charge you for that process. No idea as to what those specific TSBs refer to, but many TSBs over the E53's life have been issues to "be advised about" for the dlr as opposed to things or glitches that have actually happened to each/all/any of our cars. So, some of those items may apply to your car and some may not...and, that "history" will explain what has been done. Welcome to DaBoard. GL,mD |

:hawt: don't tell avanti27 ;) |

Nice looking X5 but the color looks more like Estoril Blue, which would have been a special order color so that would be cool. It's nice! Maybe it was the lighting when you took the pics. :dunno: I resisted the DRL's until my wife started driving the X5 and she wanted them. I think they are good idea and most traffic safety studies support their worth. |

Thank you everybody for the kind words and warm welcome. Thanks for the advise motordavid, I am going to have the dealer "run my key" to see what TSB's or recalls need to be completed on my X5.

I believe you are right, it may in fact be Estoril Blue. I did some research and I thought the 04 4.8is only came in Le Mans blue, I still need to check this out and find out what is what. I want the DRL's for the same reason, added safety and I will feel a little bit safer with them on when the wife takes it out. Sorry avanti27 I had no idea you were looking at this X5. Quote: Welcome bulldog. Very nice looking X5, love the color. What is that right above the door lock switch? that must be Estoril Blue, not Le Mans Blue which is same color as mine :D

Either way is cool with me, I like both shades. Wuzin, I had a couple of questions for you. First, what color are the center of your rims? and is that the factory ipod hookup? Your X5 looks great. |
it should say under the hood the color of the vehicle. (check on the shock tower)
|
open your hood and look on the right side of the car, there will be the color name

Is bulldogg still on the forums?
First of all, I wanted to say, nice car! Second, when I first saw those pics of the 4.8is in the driveway, it reminded me of my MIL's house in Lakewood. Sure enough, you must live in the same neighborhood! She lives of Michelson. Anyhow, my wife also has a 4.8is in Estoril. I thought these cars are so RARE, but now, maybe our cars will cross paths if you are still in the area. Let me know if you are still around. Maybe one of these days when we're down there visiting her mom, we can meetup for the FIRST EVER Estoril 4.8is photoshoot! |
His last post was almost 2 years ago. He'd have to be one helluva lurker.

SPECK TACK ULAR RIDE that was the color combo I was in search of (gave up) finding a clean one......enjoy it! So I caved in on 22K mile a LaMans/Cream last week.

don't do the DRLs, angel eyes only (choosing the 1st option on the headlight switch) looks the best with the fogs on
