Clearing Headlght problem, HELP

Well i took my x5 in today to a mechanic to get the clear headlight look by removing the lens covers, and everything went well for one side, easy, but then when he was doin the other side, the damn thing just wouldnt come off, and he's like there is a risk of breaking it, so now i dont know what to do, he telling me that there is a spray that he will order in that moistens up the silicone or somethin in those terms, but i just wanted to know if there are any other ways to pry it off or remove it without breaking tabs, oh he used a heat gun.....any help? seems like any mod is a headache with this thing!

--i also have a extra headlight cover but has scratches on it, anyway to remove scratches of the headlight.????

Is it a younger model headlight?
I remove scratches with 1000, 2000 grit wet/dry bodywork paper used wet then finish with clearcoat polish.

Dont use a heat gun. Use an oven at 250 for 10-15 min.

Just like what Krunk man says, you have to mess with the clips and just pull the lens off. Make sure you have a friend with you so he/she can hold the headlight in place. Good luck man.

maybe your X was in an accident and had one headlight replaced. the build dates could be different. There is a clock not only on the trim, but also on the very back of the light housing. Id check the one on the back of the light housing to see if its a 10/02 light or newer with just a 01 piece of trim put on it.

If thats the case, order another headlight on ebay that you can open.
