Thanks to all your help, and our good friends over at Morristown BMW I bought the following mods for my 2001 x5:

White headlights and tail lights
Aluminum running boards
Decorative front skid plate
Black stip for the top of the bumper

All I need to do now is figure out a tire and wheel package... I have about $1500 to $1800 for this project, and if I come in on budget, I will be buying a titanium trim kit for my interior
