Question for AFI CAI owners
Have you had any problems with this mod? I remember hearing about oils from some replacement intake filters would get onto the O2 sensors and messing some things up. That was a few years ago though.
Does anyone have any info/experience on this? |
i believe u mean AFE intake. i installed 1 on my X5 and never had
any issues w/ oils messing things up. |
K&N Filters have the oil base i believe. That screws up the MAF...

I have an AFE intake on my X. So far, I've had no issues. *knock on wood*
|
I've had the AFE CAI for just about one year.
No problems, whatsoever. |

But as far as AFe i have replaced my cold air filter once already and when i got the brand new one it was pre-oiled and i installed this brand new one thats all shiny/clean and no engine light.. |
Have had my afe cai for about 9 months with no problems. Not sure it was worth the $220 though. Didnt notice anything but some more engine noise on my 3.0. Maybe you get more bang for the buck with the 4.4/4.8
|
Good info, I have an AFE on order and wasn't sure about this issue...So AFE=good, pre-oiled filters=bad:thumbup:
|
I am using a K&N drop in right now, and I have not had any problems with the MAF. I did use an AFE CAI for a few months, but on the 3.0i, it really did not make a difference compared to the K&N, so I sold it.

I thought that Afe was a dry filter, do you have to oil that up too? I should be getting mine friday.
