uk X5 pixel problem

I am a new user to this site and I have looked about getting the pixels on my X5 fixed as a goodwill gesture. After contacting BMW in the Uk it is basically a no go. Is anyone willing to respond (so I can go back with some amunition) who has had this problem fixed in the uk. All I need is anypart of your name and the city where you live. If not just a reponse will do about anything I can through at them to save me money.

Hmmm..I have the same problem. The dealer told me I would have to replace the entire cluster.

I had my cluster replaced under good will. I emailed customer services at: [email protected] explained the problem and how unhappy I was about it and that it is a serious common problem. They replied with,

Thank you for your e-mail dated September 28, 2006. I am sorry to learn of the faults you have experienced with your BMW X5's Instrument Cluster.

BMW will occasionally offer a goodwill gesture to assist with the cost of repairs if it can be attributed to a manufacturing defect and this is at BMW UK's discretion. If a customer chooses not to renew their warranty policy, they then take on the responsibility of any costs incurred in the event of a failure.
All goodwill requests are processed via our network of approved dealerships, who will need to submit a report to BMW UK for our consideration. I would suggest that you speak with your local dealership to arrange a suitable time for them to inspect your vehicle. Once they have inspected your vehicle, they will be in a better position to advise if they feel it appropriate to submit a claim to us.

In closing, I am sorry that you have had cause to contact us under these circumstances and trust that your local dealership will be able to address your concerns.

Regards

So basically what I did from there was take my X to the dealer, had them confirm that the problem is the common pixel fault, they then contacted BMW UK Customer services who then authorised the dealer to replace the cluster under good will. All I had to pay was £40 for the labour.

Man...I need to move to the Uk...LOL
