Question???

I have an 02 BMW X5 4.4 sport.....im curious does the X5 operate and have a higher end speed in Sport mode or tiptronic mode?? Just wondering....by the way i raced an 2004 FX45 lastnight i know its a little immature and maybe a bit dangerous but i had to...it was a close race up until we reached the 170-180km/h speeds then my X5 started pulling away so basically i won which i figured would happen. Anyway any help on my question ??

the car is "faster" in Sport mode. it holds the lower gear a little longer so there's more torque. don't think it changes the top speed, or activiates a threshold...

No! :stickpoke

Your car ends in 6th. gear (or if only 5 in 5th.) and as the rpmīs will be the same - the top speed will be the same.

But as you know: It is not the issue to get from A to B, but HOW you get there!

Take care of speed-traps. :driver:

Right, the sport mode and manual mode only hold the shift points longer. With your foot on the floor in normal D mode the engine will shift at red line anyways. When I'm in a stoplight race, I turn off the AC which might shave a few hundredths off my time.

In a straight line, sport mode or manual mode will not be any faster since full throttle kickdown in any Drive mode will get you max accel.

SD and Manual are much better in the twisties though!
