actually i've already had the windows tinted, but we have strict regulations over here on the level of permissible tint, and i'm pretty much at that level.

interior trim is black - high gloss black i believe. might change to metallic graphite as my next mod actually, to add a bit of contrast against the black interior and also to complement the sterling grey exterior. but its a bit costly so still under consideration.

Davud 05-04-2007 03:26 AM

good deal can be...

Hi asiax........nice mods. can i ask where did you install the DVD headrest system and the body kits? How much did it cost you? May consider driving my X5 up to Malaysia for the mods.........;)

got the dvd installed at a local accessory shop...was done in a day...jvc player is in the glovebox...was worried at first about the install esp the monitors (apparently a top Taiwan-made brand), but turned out very clean...sound channeled through car's speakers with an auto switchover from the radio when dvd is turned on...cost about RM3k - RM4k depending on choice of player.

sourced the bodykits from whoever had them in stock - front bumper from a specialist BMW parts stockist (RM5.5k) and rear bumper from BMW dealer (RM3.5k)...i could've got them for about RM1k+ cheaper in total from specialist BMW accessory shop but order period about 2 months...install about 1 day plus (RM450).

i'm interested in knowing more about your angel eye upgrade too!

Beautiful X5   . The only thing I would suggest right now is the M/// steering wheel :)

LeMansX5 05-04-2007 11:44 AM

Nice job! Are the tips extending out more than stock tips or an illusion?

jwilburn 05-04-2007 11:53 AM

Looks great!!

Sorry I am a little confused. Your SAV says its an '04, but I didnt think that specific steering wheel came out untul '05/'06?

blondboinsd 05-04-2007 12:01 PM

WRONG That sport steering wheel came new with the 2004+ X5 Sport Package, beautiful car and even more beautiful surroundings!

hmmm...that car doesn't have the sport package...? unless it's packaged differently in Malaysia

cmyX6go 05-04-2007 02:08 PM

She looks great.

They look beautiful!

Well, the stock tips curved downwards, so they do extend out more...they're flush with the rear bumper now...and they're also slanted slightly from right to left/left to right, matching the curve of the rear bumper.

no, i don't think it has the sports package (not sure exactly what that comprises)...and yeah, they do pick and choose which options to package with the car, i believe to manage price levels...we generally don't have the luxury over here of speccing the car out ourselves...just have to accept what they think we would want!!

got them from a local outfit which imports oem and aftermarket parts and accessories from germany i believe. they're breyton tips...universal application i think...and as mentioned a couple of posts back they slant slightly to match the curve of the rear bumper.

ljnlaw 05-07-2007 06:56 PM

Great mods...I would leave it alone now except, putting the steering wheel back on the correct (left) side.

Meiac09 05-07-2007 09:50 PM

:wow: :idhitit:
i though you meant post-modern for a minute !ouch:

DipnX5 05-08-2007 01:12 AM

Looks great! Yeah we have laws over here to in Seattle, WA. The only thing preventing me from tinting mine is its a moving violation.

madmax5 05-08-2007 08:27 AM

Holy sh*t that is nice! I will have to have a chat with you when I bring back my X5 from Sydney so that I can at least try to match some of your mods especially the 4.8is kit. Awesome!

Are the dealers mostly in the KL area?

How much were the titanium grilles and hood intake?

No worries mate, be glad to share. All mods done in KL, where you should be able to source anything you want. Titanium grilles and intakes about RM800 each pair.

On a separate note, thanks to all for your kind comments.

benathon 05-11-2007 09:56 AM

Great mod, definately one of the better bang for the buck mods for a 3.0i... Exactly like mine.
