Trunk creaking

Hey guys. I know the tailgate rattle is a big issue. I have been working on it for some time. I have gotten the rattle to go to a creak and clank. My tailgate will creak when going around corners, and will clank over bumps. I have no idea what to do. I have adjusted the knobs on both sides of the tailgate about a hundred times, but no luck. I even ordered the knob that goes by the latch, but when its on, it makes the tailgate creak even worse. IT is driving me nuts. Any ideas, or suggestions? Thanks.

I've noticed my biggest noise issue from the back is from the the actual floor. It seems to squeak on the screw top device that keps the center of the floor from sinking in in the center....

I put felt pads on the bump stops and wrapped the latch with electical tape. Problem solved.

use an insulation tape over the metal lock part on lower door

Lightly rough up the rubber adjustment pads using sand paper to increase their friction. Check the imbedded reflectors in the tailgate to make sure they have not bowed to contact the upper hatch. Good luck

I bought the updated Right And Left Rear Hatch Snubbers (right word???). They made a difference but there is still more creaking which I believe is the load floor too. Also thanks for the info on the reflectors as I just checked those and they are loose too. I love my X5 but the noise from the back is maddening!
