Scary X5 accident (not me)

So today, I was driving on a 1 lane road going to Target. In front of me, another x5, 3.0i, and 2002- 2003 model. We were going at about 40 mph. From an intersecting street, a Toyota took a left turn in front of the guy in front of me. The Toyota took the turn without stopping for us. The X5 in front of me quickly jerked the steering to the right, to avoid a collision. He went straight into a wooden electrical pole at 40mph. (now, the scariest part) One of the wires snapped and as the power line snapped, it made a big and blue spark in the sky and fell right onto the other guy's X5. The guy that was driving the X5 was right near it, not realizing there was a live power line near him. I quickly signaled him to move away. I pressed the BMW assistance button on my car and the police arrived and the man was fine. Scary thing was, that could have been me. Anyways, on the way back, I saw the fire brigade and police car and the power line was fixed and back up. Luckily, the guy in front of me was lucky to be safe because the pole was right through the engine compartment, inches away from the driver seat. Anyways, just thought I'd share this with you guys...

It was pretty much totalled.

Scary...Let me guess, the Toyota that caused it was clueless and kept going...

A poll or a tree will do that.

There was a thread a couple years ago on another forum I visited that showed how an RX330 hit the front of a railing head on.
It went in and out the trunk of the car. Anyone who was sitting in the passenger seat and behind it would be toast.

I am glad my DD is an X5 now and not a Scion :P

You did the right thing by signalling him not to step out and then calling later for help. That's our first duty to help others as a citizen and as a X5world member too...

Yup, plus I am a doctor, so I checked him right there and he seemed to be ok. Yup, the Toyota kept on going...
