I had the same problem before and it haunted me for a long while. Finaly, I found the problem was came from the trunk light. The foot of one of trunk light was broken, it rattled when the car was moving. I replaced the light and the sound was gone. Check both trunk light.

Does anyone have a picture of those rubber bumpers? I've been looking forever and I cannot find them anywhere under my trunk cover. Thanks!

Jass,
I am pointing at the rubber bumper in the pic. Just use a Torx 20 tip to loosen the center bolt, turn the roun bumper counterclockwise (just a little) and re-tighten the center bolt. The bumper itself spins on a threaded guide so you can adjust how snug you want it to presss against the hatch dooe, etc.) Repeat as needed until the bumper fits snug against the hatch door. |
Remove the cargo cover assembly and go for a drive. I had to put a cabinet door silicone bump stop under the right side of where the cover snaps in. That cured the cargo area rattle in my X.

Cargo Cover
Tiag,
Do yo mean the side cargo covers that conceal the fuse box assebly on the right and the audio equipment on the left? |
djsantro,
I am referring to the retractable, roll-up cargo cover that is behind the rear seatbacks. |
