Has anyone replaced sliding load floor?

I have a 2005 X5 with the sliding load floor. I would like to remove it and replace it with a standard cover. Has anyone done this? Upon initial inspection, it looks like removing it would be straightforward. However, it looks like I might have to replace some of the cargo area carpeting trim to accommodate the cover vs the load floor.

I can't answer your question, but I was just curious as to why you wanted to go back with the standard cover. I think the retractable load floor is one of the neatest options my X5 has-very useful and convenient, and it's one of the first things I show to everyone that wants to check out the vehicle. Not belittling your decision, just wondering!

Let me know if you plan on selling it...

Reson for wanting to remove

1) One side compartment is filled with a sub and the other an amp - so I have to use the area around my spare tire to store jumper cables, chamois, first aid kit/emergency stuff. Lifting the standard floor is much easier.
2) I installed grocery grabbers/hooks on the side compartment doors (to hook plastic bags on so that things like milk, cans, etc. don's spill out all over the floor.) The sliding load floor is taller than the standard floor so the hooks don't work as well.
3) The tail gate is slightly harder to close since it hits against the edge of the load floor.

I know this is all minor, but since I never use it, it is just taking up space, and is adding extra weight to my vehicle.

I probably will sell it if someone wants to buy it (assuming that it comes out just fine and I am comfortable that it can be installed on another vehicle). I would also be willing to trade my sliding load floor for a standard floor cover if someone wanted to do so. (I have the tan interior).

Damn I have the black interior. Sounds like a sweet deal though. GL!

I'd like to sell my floor also, I have no use for it, and it takes up vertical space. Mine's black. Will the standard cover just fit in the space when I remove it?? Then I'd like to sell it for $$ and the regular cover.

I think the sliding load floor is the most useless thing available on an X5. I have it on my 4.8is and it doesn't make anything easier or more convienent..

according to this http://www.xoutpost.com/articles/x5/m...-retrofit.html

it doesn't seem as simple as switching

well, i removed mine from a black interior '05 4.8is...its for sale now...trying to net $250 after shipping and in exchange for a black stock rear floor shipped to me. there is a small less than 1 inch tear in the carpet near the back seat...i never noticed it til i had it out. i also stripped one of the screws/bolts.
check the link above to see that the whole kit is worth about $770 from dealer. do all x5's have the mounting plates and predrilled holes already. i have pics of the whole thing available.
offers??

I assume that you are aware that those two carped pieces of trim with the raised edge on the left and right side on the floor will need to be removed and included with the sliding load floor. The standard floor cover covers the spot where those pieces of trim go. I see that they are still attached in your picture. The carpeted trim piece in the rear next to the seats with the metal bracket sticking out also would need to be taken out and included with the load floor.

Also, if you want to do a complete change, the two pieces of interior carpeted trim that cover the wheel well would also need to be changed. On all X5's there are two brackets/hooks in the rear next to the seats where you can attach straps in order to tie down cargo. On vehicles with the sliding load floor, the brackets are attached to the floor itself. On vehicles without the sliding load floor, those brackets are attached to the interior wheel well trim pieces. This part is probably not all that important to most people, but I just thought that I would include this info as F.Y.I.
