Has anyone permanently removed the cargo load tray from the trunk?
The '03 4.6L that I bought came with the pull-out cargo load tray in the trunk. I'm not so sure that I really like this option and don't see myself using it very often. Also, it does take up some space.
Has anyone actually REMOVED this thing? If so, what parts are necessary to retrofit my X5 to a non-rolling cargo floor look and finish? Is it expensive? Thanks! |
I'm monitoring the thread , I have it and also would like to get rid of it if I can.

the '05 i was looking at had this option; which, i am not fond of. i, too, would like to know.

I do not have any experience with the pull out floor but I looked at the Real OEM page for it:
http://realoem.com/bmw/showparts.do?...19&hg=51&fg=65 Seems as if you take out the brackets for the floor and it is out. Not sure what kind of holes it may leave. Hopefully someone who has done it will chime in!!!! |
Hadn't thought of that , if I could take out the brackets/rails(looks like they are just bolted) and have the floor flush then that would work. Will investigate.

I don't think that it is TOO difficult, looking at Real OEM. Trying to INSTALL the rolling floor might be a bit more difficult if your X5 came without it. Due to the rollers on the lip of the trunk, there might be some bolt holes that remain uncovered once removed, but nothing some black silicone can't plug up! If I attack this and actually pull out the darn thing, it won't be for a week or two.
