Valves covers still leaking

3 weeks ago I had the valves covers gaskets replaced. Yesterday I found some oil stains in my garage. Brought the car back to the garage today and was told that the gaskets needed to be replaced again. :angryfire

Oh yeah! they will as the car is under extended warranty but still a pain as they keep the car for the week-end. I got a loaner though....Mercury Milan :damn:

Are valve cover gasket leaks a common problem on X5's?

My X5 had a valve cover gasket leak as well - is this a big problem with these V8's? (I'm assuming we're all talking V8's here....)

I had a hard time removing the black plastic housing that on top of each valve cover. They hold the wiring for the coils and Injector connections. Also all the hoses and power wire on the driver side get in the way. For removing and installing the new gaskets. But then again maybe it was because I did the water pump the same day. The passenger side was all of 10 minutes to do. My gaskets where as hard as rocks...

Don't pretty much all engines have to have their valve cover gaskets replaced at 100-120k?

Nope...I went 200k+ on my last 2 cars with the original gasket.
