Horn is working not well.
Hi all. My X's horn is working not well. When I push my horn for a while, say several seconds, it sounds weird. The horn sounds unstable, sometime in normal tone, sometime in lower tone. I guess maybe the higher tone horn does not work well. Anyone has any idea? If I need to replace my horn, just want to know where the horn locates under the hood and if it is easy to replace it. Thanks!

Based on THIS, we definitely have a DUAL horn, as do all BMW's (auto's, that is!), and they are located in ONE spot, as opposed to being split across the entire width of the engine compartment. This should give you a head's up! Additionally, the 'little black dot' in the RealOEM picture shows it as being on the left hand side. I would have said DRIVER'S side, but we get all kinds of folks on this board!! If anyone has a 5-series Bentley manual, it's probably in the same spot... |

The horns are a PITA to get to. They are in front of the left front wheel in the chin under the bumper cover. You have to take about a dozen screws out, the brake cooling duct and move the wheel well liner to have almost enough room to get them out.
If your going to replace one you might as well replace both because after you do this job once you won't want to do it a second time. Ask me how I know. |

The steering wheel doesn't have anything to do with the placement of the horn. In order to get to the horn the wheel well liner around the front left tire will need to be loosened in the front of the wheel well.
