Personalized plate...need your opinion
Well, I got personalized plates for my X5 4.8is and my E46 M3 a month or so ago and want ot see what you think. Both cars are in Imola Red by the way (yes I love the color).
The one on my M3 is: MMMOLA And the one on my X5 is: R8TED X I like the one on my M3, although I think people think it reads Moola, as in money. In reality, it was only designed for certain BMW people to understand it, being that my car is an M3 and in Imola Red. However, I am not sure I like the R8TED X on my X5. People give me stupid looks, obviously not knowing the car is an X5, the most powerful one at that. Therefore, I am taking suggestions as to what to change my plate to or if you think I should/shouldn't. Aside from getting looks, my family is not a big fan, and I don't think my mother in law would appreciate the plate, if I ever find a woman of course. My own ideas are (in no particular order, 6 characters max): XXXXX 4PT8 XPRESV XTMS5 RED48 XCLLNT Ideas, opinions, and suggestions are appreciated. Thanks Brian |
It is tough to have custom plates. I pondered the option of having something like the "MMMOLA" plate for my old M or X. The reason I chose another direction is because if only BMW enthusiasts understand it, then probably not that many people understand it. If some dumb-a$$ thinks it means rich, that is all the more reason to key it or something.
Anyways, R8TED X is pretty sweet, but it could give the image of a porn star (don't mean to offend) 4PT8 is cool, and so is RED48. You could try for STL X5 for your location. |
Well, you didn't need the "8" in R8TEDX - it could have just as easily been an "A". The "T" and the "E" are already captured in the "8". Perhaps it could have simply been "R8EDX" or even "R8DX". Maybe that's why they're looking at you funny...

as did my FLA winter buds down in FL, 2 seasons ago, when we had it down there... it's the natives that don't get it. And, when I 'splain it' they mutter something like, "ya'll building big houses up their on our mountains, driving up our prices, and 'reckin' our views." Some here, wish it were still 1962 or, 1862... but, I understand their venom. |
When I was younger (20 years ago) one of my buddies had 6ULDV8 - The plate I wanted back then was IXLR8

mD: no offence, but I don't know what that means...:D
beekbmwm3: Maybe if you got a licence plate frame that says "X5" then they will know what it means....they definately sell them, chrome frame with "X5" in black, and black frame with black lettering. |

Having been to the Lincoln State a few hundred times, I realize the concept of a more than 1325 feet above sea level is difficult. :nanana: |

:iagree: that they are a bit overrated. My buddy has the tuner-trim level of his car on his. lets just say we get radarred a lot more than anyone else in this state.
I personally go back to my gbs roots and write for the short-number. they really help out when you're on the wrong side of a radar gun. |
I had personal plates on my Porsche Twin turbo and everyone tried to race me or cut me off- I thought one of these days I am going to pi$$ someone off and TWNTRBO is easy to remember and I would get reported so I dropped personal plates on both GT3's and both BMWs-Sure enough one of my Porsche buddies got turned in for speeding his plate was TRAT really easy to remember. They didnt tikcet him but why even take that chance.
