X5 Alarm Functions
First thanks to everyone that got me through "Blue Smoke and Antifreeze smell". This is a great site. Turns out it was a head gasket. I've have a few pics if anyone is interested. Too big to attach. X5 is back and running fine. Check out MrMCar.com He does great work.
On to the next issue. During the summer months I've had problems with the insde sensors setting off my alarm (hot temps I guess) I open the windows and it is fine. The manual tells you how to deactivate the tilt and insde sensors. Doing that a fews days, now my "chrip" no longer sounds when I unlock or lock the X. Is this also funtion you can turn off & on? The lights seem to flash on to indicate the alarm is set. Any help would be great. Thanks |
Update. It now seems all I have is the lights that flash. No alarm. Any takers on this? Where is the siren located?
Thanks again |
i believe i saw it by the fire wall under the hood by the break fluid driver side. if not then maybe the passinger side.

Thanks. I'll take a look tomorrow. But I have found a hole in my "hot temp" thinking. Today at about 10 AM I had to leave my office because the lights were blinking (again no siren) and when I open the truck it wasn't even warm inside.
I know they don't make a Bentley book for the X5 yet. Where do go for these kinds of things that's going to have me following wiring diagrams etc.? Thanks again |
Yes my chirp alarm has stopped going as well i thought it had to do with me playing with it one day and holding trunk to long? any ideas?
|
mine never had any sound signal during open/close operation...its starts shouting if any unauthorized access ocured...but not on a daily operation...may be it's difference between Europe & USA models...

When I was adjusting my rear hatch stoppers (to get rid of the rattle) I backed them out to far and my "beep" went away. I just twisted them half a turn back down and would re-test (close the hatch and lock doors) until the beep returned. Beep came back and my rattle is gone. |
Thanks guys. Again a great site, this is the latest. My hot temp thinking may have holes in it. Today at the office I thought I deactivated the inside and tilt sensor (got the solid red light and all). Came out of the office to grab a bite and unlock only to get a blinking red light, indicateing that the alarm had gone off (again no siren).
After lunch, didn't deactive the insde and tilt sensor (same temps), open the sunroof in the tilt position, at 5 no blinking red light to indicate the alarm had gone off. This is going to be tough one. Anyone know how to ajust the alarm? (if any) Thanks |
after the alarm has gone off, the siren stops and then the only indication should be the flashing hazard lights and the high beams...i'm unsure of how long it goes for...
are you absolutely sure you deactivated the alarm? |
Thanks. No the siren no longer goes off. I have sat in the X with the alarm set and snap my figures near the sensor and the lights begin to blink with no siren. Also I no longer have the "Chrip" when I arm and disarm the system (lock & unlock).
This aftenoon I "googled" BMW alarm problems and I had a number of hits. Most had some of the same problems. A few said it was solved by replacing the hood sensor. Not sure if I'm buying that, but it was only $17.00 so I stop by the dealer. It will be the weekend before I get a chance to put it in. We'll see. Thanks again |
