Is this my fault?

We had flooded streets in the morning commute so I put my 2004 4.4 sport in the S drive both to slow down and speed up.
I came up on a light about a mile from my house. I don't think the engine was really warmed up yet. Anyway I was fooled into thinking that I had fully stopped and when the light suddenly went green, then I pushed the accelerator to take off. Due to the weather and traffic, this was just a moderate tap. Well I had not come to a full stop and when I started forward it felt like I had been hit from behind.
Unfortunately this has happened 4-5 other times. Am I being clumsy or should I mention this when I take the X5 in next week for some scheduled repairs?

You need a transmission software upgrade. This used to happen to me when going from a slow roll to acceleration. The upgrade fixed it and also made shifting smoother.

Thanks for confirming my best guess. This will help me make the best use of next week's visit to the dealer.

This happens to me all the time. What is the software upgrad specifically so that I can ask my SA about it?

Thanks,

Christian

Should be no cost if in warranty. I would
argue even lf it was out of warranty.

Well the advice here came in handy. Dealer said there was a TSB - previous advisor would always say campaign, so what's the difference - about this and they have fixed it.
I don't know yet because there is also a steering rack problem and I've been driving a loaner (X3) for 4 days and counting.

I just had my car at the stealership and they said that there is no transmission software upgrade that they are aware of. What gives?

This problem showed up earlier and the server advisor I had at the time said there was no upgrade to help. So now I'm told a different story. I will know more about who told it straight when I get it back because the steering noise problem that forced me to take the X5 in is keeping it there this weekend as they order more parts.
