X5 Keys
Hi Everyone ,
Does anyone know if it's possible to use a "square key" such as the 7-series for the X5 instead of the "long key"? sorry for the terminology...I did a search and couldn't find any info... Thoughts please? I need a spare...thx! standard key vs. 7-series key: http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...0Key/x5key.jpg http://i96.photobucket.com/albums/l1...7serieskey.jpg I would much prefer the 7-series key over the standard Regards |
no idea, it would have to be able to get the vehicle code, which the x5 wont start without, and you would have to see if the 7er key fits in the x5 hole. might even need to replace your lock core on the x to pull this one off.

I don't believe you could retrofit the other key without replacing every locking mechanism in the car. Far too much money to blow on that IMO.

the top one isn't an X5 key, the X5 has that head with the blade like on the 7er.
interesting project... |
that top one Looks like my 5 key the botton key looks like
my 335 key. You plug in the module on the 7 right then hit the start/stop button. So I dont see how it would work on the 53 it would be a pain pulling out the little key in the 7/335 module then sliding it in the ignition. I agree with Wagner you would have to install the start stop button and then the key module intertion port that seems like it would be may more trouble than its worht. |
if you can get in programed to work for the x, then cut and weld it. :)

Let me know how the welding goes
