Front and rear windshield scratched
 

My front and rear windshields are very scratched from the wipers. Is this a typical problem on X5s? I doubt that warranty would fix it, but I figured before I fall out of coverage, I'd ask the group. I've tried polishing with glass polish and made no difference at all.

Not covered under warranty :( . I would suggest that you change the rubber more often (maybe 2x a year), and never use unless glass is thoroughly soaked.

Yeah, I picked the car up used, and it was like that. I may try some of the higher grade polishes online. My wife gets on me because I wait until I can almost not see before I use my windshield wipers :p

Look for Cerium Oxide polishing powder. You may find at higher end glass dealers.

Windshield water nozzles defective

I just visited x-5 world to look for someone with this same problem I have with my x-5 and x-3. The windshield water nozzles on these cars do not spray wide enough over the windshield and you can not spray water without the wipers starting to go over a half dry windshield, and therefore wipers scratch the windshield especially on the passanger side. I think these nozzles are just not made right. They should have balls like most car manufactures have eg Toyota, that you can adjust the spray to the sides. I have complained to the dealer here in Iceland. He tells me that I have not used windshield water with the wipers!, which is nonsense!
I have been looking at other cars in town, they all have the same problem.
My only recommendation is not to use the wipers until the windshield is soaked as someone else recommended. Then you probably have eventually change the windshield But it is hard to believe that BMW can not do this right.
I am hoping that I can install new aftermarked nozzles one of these days! Does anyone know a company that sells aftermarket usuable nozzels, that would spray more to the sides?

Wouldnt you know I have a damn pit scratch in the front windshield its the size of pendot. Near the field of view for driver, did this item work for my issue? Guys in details forum say if you can feel with your fingernail your S.O.L, i think this might call for a replacement later if it gets worse. Anybody got other tips? Thanks
