Tire Siping

Anyone have any thoughts on tire siping? I was told it makes a nice difference in traction (winter + summer) and actually helps in keeping the tire cool, which might help with tread life?

Are there any bad things about siping?

Thoughts are appreciated :D

not worth the effort... modern compounds provide great grip if you use the correct compound...

cons: if someone inexperience does it, they could cut too wide or too deep and compromise the tire and you would never know... and we all know what level of skill the average tire guy has right?

Thanks for the info. I take it your advice applies to all season tires as well?

Hayaku has it Nailed, imo.
An urban myth; maybe works for custom siping, for Midgets,
et al, on dirt tracks, done by a tire/track pro.
