Break Squeaking Issues (Axxis Deluxe)
Hello all, at the turn of the year I put new brakes on my X5 (full break job from Zeckhausen Racing, Axxis Deluxe Pads with the slotted rotors). My breaks didn’t really squeak much in the beginning however not it has become so bad I hate to even drive my car. The brakes squeak quite badly when braking but the more annoying part is that I can hear them squeaking while not breaking. Like if I am driving on the highway and have my window down I can easily hear the noise, and if I pass a barrier to where it will echo off of it is extremely loud. Can anyone give some possible clues to why this is occurring and how I can fix it (trying to prevent having to take it to the Stealer) Thanks for any help

Did you use the chemical on the rotors before you installed them?
Also when I did my brake job mine were a little squeaky for the first 500 plus miles. Now at about 1200 miles since, and have no squeak, well maybe once in awhile ill here a very quiet one. Good luck |
The squeak is often caused by the brake pad vibrating against the caliper. This type of noise can be stopped by using a special brake pad silicone to mount the pads against the caliper. When you removed your OEM pads you may have noticed an adhesive patch holding the pads in place. This patch serves the same function as the silicone.

So is the answer to take off my pads and put the silicon on the back? Or is there an easier method. Thanks for the help guys

Try using anti-squeal compound on the back of the pads. There are a lot of different types ranging from the silicone type as described above to the paste type. I used the paste type from bavarian autosport and had good results. In any case, don't go crazy and slap on too thick of a layer. It will cause your pads to ride unevenly in the calipers. I run the axxis deluxe w/the compound on stock rotors and have no squeal at.
