2001 X5 needs XM - Help?

I own a 2001 non-DSP radio. I already have an Ice-Link that works great. My girl just got me an XM subscription. How can I have both at he same time? Will this be an expensive undertaking?

I really need some advice.

Thanks!

Not sure with the Ice-Link, but I have the DICE and it has an Aux input on it and I have my XM receiver (Roady2) plugged into it. You then use the factory radio to select between the iPod and the XM.

Can I then control both iPod and XM through the steering wheel?

Still just ipod. Since the XM would be through an AUX input (think headphones connection) you could only control the master volume through the steering wheel. All other XM control would be through the portable unit itself.

Correct, unless the Business CD is updated to a 2003+ unit, you cannot have the XM Direct. You can rid of the ice>Link and upgrade to the DICE, which has an integrated AUX port to support both a handheld XM receiver and the iPod:

DICE iPod Integration Kit for BMW - *UPGRADE*

Since you already have an ice>Link, you will need only the upgrade. Swap modules and you're complete.

tom, are you saying that with the dice integration kit you can not only get ipod control, but also xm control through the steering wheel? i have a 2006 x5 3.0 and have an xm pioneer inno and i am trying to figure it what the best way to connect it is (1) using the cradle for fm modulation, (2) through the aux input installed in my glovebox or perhaps (3) using a dice integration kit...

The DICE kits has an AUX port, this is for audio only. All control is via the XM device you would be using (assuming handheld).
