DSC/Brake/ABS Lights

So looks like i have been introduced to the next level of X5 ownership. This morning while driving home, all of a sudden the DSC triangle, ABS light, and Brake light (yellow not red) flashed on. The MID displayed "DSC off" then went away. I pushed the check control and it read "ok."

I tried turning it off, then back on, same thing. Ok so I read these threads that are similar in issue:

However mine did not stall and as far as i know the battery has not died on me.

So the big question...I need my car next weekend. If it goes away is this something I can live (and not crash and die) with? The *$*#*@ stealer around here takes 3 weeks for an appointment, so thats why I am worried.

Any ideas/tips/comments would be greatly greatly appreciated. Thanks y'all!

It probably has something to do with DSC failure or xDrive failure. You could live with it, but it's probably just going to be rear-wheel drive only and no DSC.

Thanks! Ill drive it later and see. Ugh why does this happen at the worst times.

...same christmas tree lights on my cluster...it was the $700 steering angle sensor....this shuts down the dsc and abs systems, all pretty necessary for a long drive....

I had the same problem with my X5 this past winter and I see you found my post on that. From my experience in that incident, I had no DSC (starting traction control in the snow) which is no biggie in DC in July (all four tires would just spin like crazy in the snow for me last winter). Here's the bad part - you have NO DSC stopping and NO anti-lock brakes in your current situation - all four tires will skid like a 1972 Ford Pinto in an emergency stop for you. BE CAREFUL if you need to drive the vehicle!!! Call the $tealer and demand an appointment to have them look at this - it's probably just a fault code that needs to be cleared. Until you have the $tealer do this - you have NO anti-lock brakes at all and NO DSC in an emergency stop - I know - it happened on mine! Drive carefully!

Thanks yall! So I did the turn wheel left and right thing, and sure enough lights gone! Hmm so hopefully I won't die. But maybe should have the stealer look at it. I also checked the tire pressure and the new one after my flat was about 6Psi more than the rest. So maybe this had something to do with it?

Hey, I'm glad to hear that did the trick for you! It didn't work in my situation. You probably are all set if the lights are no longer lit. Maybe a trip to the $tealer would be OK, but at this point, sounds like you're good to go!

Well it happened to me today, while working on the car radio the x5 battery went dead so we boost it ,then i turned on the car and that yellow triangle, brake and ABS light were on.After disconnecting battery for about 15mins then reconnecting still the same lights ,so i told the guys i'll have my ind. mechanic put the computer on it,but when i backed the x5 out the driveway then drove forward for about a minute i looked down at the dash and the lights were gone......i said great...parked the x turned it off then on still no light ,i guess it reset itself.

if your battery is low when you start car lamps are lighted because baterry voltage is too low, until you drive it a little bit or you just leave it running until betery has recharged minimum of power. they go off automaticaly
