Blue Mark (Water) Spots on Garage Floor Front Passenger Side
 

Right now is pretty hot in the Sacramento, CA area. Recently I have discovered big area spots of water with blue "outlines", you know, blue water spots. I am aware that both Radiator and Windshield fluids are blue. None of them are below minimum level, radiator level is perfect.

Also judging by the amount of water, if there was a leak on my windshield reservoir, I think it would be empty by now, which is not.

Question is, can the condensation fluid from the A/C system ever leave blue (outline) spots? I want to believe this leak is from the winshield (fluid reservoir) but I could not find anything.

Any thoughts?

I suspect it is condensation from the A/C since you state other fluid levels are staying consistent. Blue "outlines" could be a chemical reaction when the water hits the floor (something in the floor material/spill/cleaning fluid residual, etc). Suggest you place a large piece of cardboard under the car following you next trip. That way you can determine location and perhaps type of fluid. And remember there is always the "taste test" (just be sure to spit afterwards). Antifreeze will be sweet tasting, not sure about windshield wash, but you can compare to what you have installed, and condensation will be ... well, like water.

The AC condensation water should be clear and orderless. If the water is leaving a blue spot it must be the washer reservoir. As a test, drain the reservoir and see if the water spots continue.

I am going to do the "cardboard" test first, since it's the easiest, thanks.

I had a windscreen washer reservoir leak 2 weeks ago, had a hole in it, which needed replacing. I typically put some colored cleanser into the container on a regular basis, helps me notice when the washer level gets low before the information display lights up.

Well... so far it looks like it was water (from condensation) and it was doing some kind of reaction with the floor... also, if it was from windshield it would stay "all" blue right? not just the "outlines" of the puddle...

If you did the cardboard test and it was anything other than condensation, you would be able to see some color. Sounds like mystery solved.

It could be windshield washer fluid that dried up from the drainage underneath. The condensation from the ac possibly could've mixed with that. I can't remember but the drainage for the washer fluid is on the driver side correct? And the water drainage for the ac condensation is right about the same spot right?

I had this happen several time before I traced it to the washer fluid pump. I had the exact same leak with the same blue outlines on the floor. I first tried the inexpensive gasket that the pump pickup tube goes into and that didn't fix it. I then realized the pump has a small orfice that had mineral deposits around it. I replaced the pump and no more leak. The pump was about $50 and its worth the extra $4 to replace the gasket. :thumbup:

thing is... if it was the pump, which is at the bottom of the reservoir... why would the leak stop? yesterday water was all clear, no blue traces...reservoir is half full. :dunno:
