Clutch Delay Valve

Hi All,
Anyone had any experience with replacing the clutch delay valve, associated with the manual gearbox, with the modified valve supplied by this company? http://www.zeckhausen.com/cdv.htm
Thanks,
Colin.

I highly recommend this mod as it eliminates a lot of jerking through 1st and 2nd. Wish I did this when I first bought it.

My shop modified the existing line. I don't think you need a new part for an X5.

I can highly recommend Dave Zeckhausen and trust his advice on these matters. I encourage you to consult back with him for questions about your CDV. He's a great guy.

I bought a modified valve from Zeckhausen and replaced the original in my wife's 325xi. I found that it greatly improved the start in first gear, and had a small effect on the 1-2 shift.

Each model BMW has a different CDV, with varying amounts of restriction, and resultant delay. Ones that have a lot of delay cause jerky shifts, while some models have absolutely no perceivable impact. If you notice the jerky shift, I recommend the mod. If not, it isn't worth doing just because it might be a problem, either you notice it up front or you don't.

It is perfectly OK to just remove the CDV and reroute the line, but the replacement valve is tidier.
