Chrome Gauge Ring Install

This install was a breeze until I tried to turn the five plastic screws on the back of the instrument cluster. Even with needle nose pliers they don’t want to move. I almost bent one of the tabs on one. Any suggestions??

Thanks,
drs

in that part of the installation, i tried to misalign the top and bottom halves of the cluster.

this way, the tabs will be stay in place better due to friction.

then i turned both the top ones to get it in place, and tried pulling the bottom of the cluster apart with a little force.

while doing that, and holding that position, i tired turning the middle tab and the side ones while misaligning the top of the cluster to hold the place of
those tabs.

but most of my work was just forcing the bottom the open. i wasn't really being careful, and just ripped open the cluster from the bottom, but nothing broke

I cut up an old credit card into strips and inserted each of them into the gap between each tab so the "twist" was held in place while I separated the two halves of the cluster
