Windsheild - I'm mad & sad
On the way of work, a rock, pretty big one about size of quarter, flew onto the windsheild and made damage.
 :banghead: I was so mad but nothing I can do about that. So, I went to windsheild repair shop wihich is called Safelite auto glass. They told me that the damage is not deep enough to do anything. :bawling: Is there any DIY to fix the small chip? :( Thanks :bawling: My X5 is less than 3 weeks old :bawling: |

Over the years I have had several windshield chips repaired. What they can do is so good that you'll have a hard time finding where the chip was. The key is to get it fixed BEFORE it starts to spread into a crack. Once a crack starts then the only option is a complete replacement.
Many insurance companys will pay for a chip repair and waive the deductable because they know that it will save them in the long run by not having to pay for a complete windshield replacement once a crack occurs. |
I will post a picture as soon as I take it.
What are they mean by not deep enough? I can feel it with fingertip and visually very noticeable. :( I tried to fix the chip with a product called "Fix a Windshield" but didn't do anything. :o I about to replace windsheild. :( |
That sucks - sorry - I had my windshield replaced a few months ago $1182. I paid 500 and insurance paid the rest

I wouldn't trust a DIY kit for something like this. Do a Google search for "windshield chip repair", and try to localize it by putting in your city/state. There are usually mobile repair services that will come right to you in most major metro areas.

It also says that ultraviolet rays will cure repair compound. I have portable Ultraviolet light gun, I will try it to see if it helps. |
