Well my x5 was made in jan of 02 so i dont think that bmw mornington will do it they are money grabbers so i think i may have to do the ebay thing unless lionking will do a write up :)

There is a guy in Melb that will fix it for $300 if you remove the cluster yourself.

hmm $300 is a bit much for just a cluster, i could buy a complete new one for that much

I called my local shop, they want 600. for the cluster, and another 500 core charge on my cluster:confused: I swear at BMW northwest everything has a 500. core charge, and they are a bunch of jerks in the service department. So if anyone finds a fix that works PLEASE post it, either that or ebay here I come

Bought and tried the ebay pixel fix guide and beside being in broken English I still have the same problem ,it didnt work!!
BMW Australia want $A1500 to fix it for me.
A guy in Melbourne wants $300 and he replaces the whole LCD but he wants the cluster for at least 5 working days .
He also reckons X5's are the most common BMW clusters he fixes as they are made in the USA.... LOL

haha UPDATE: I went to mornington BMW and the service guy said to me " well i have taken these apart before and you cant fix it you just have to buy a whole new cluster" soo whats the deal with that? Isnt it ment to be fixed for free as it is a generic fault?? Also he wanted $300 for new door handles pfft. BMW what a joke.
