I had my two front windows tinted to 35% to match the rears and I haven't had any problems even with Fairfax cops (anyone who lives around here knows how they give out bs tickets left and right) I've also had my past 3 cars tinted all at 35% and never had a problem in VA, MD or DC. I would suggest you go to a tint shop that uses Madico brand tint film as it matches the stock tint perfectly (atleast for me it did).

Any aftermarket tint in PA is illegal. I have 35% on my front side windows and, knock on wood, have never been bothered. I had 5% on my Supra Turbo and cops hastled me and the dealer refused to pass me on inspection.

Its good to know that you are from VA and haven't had any problems with Fairfax cops. 35% would match the rear just right i think. I commute to MD, and D.C very often. I know the legal tint is 50% for the front in VA, but 35% doesnt look that dark, I might be able to slip by just make sure i dont get pulled over for other violation. Thanks for your reponses guys.

I have to say that I have never stopped anyone for what I felt was illegal window tinting. I tinted the front windows on my X, but kept it at the legal % for Wa state. We don't even have the measuring devices to check the tint, the State Troopers are only agency I'm aware of that bother checking. I have to tell ya that I hate contacting drivers in vehicles with tinted windows as I can see what's going on inside the car, it is a big officer safety concern.

I believe NOVAX5 meant the front drivers and passengers windows. However you are right, the front window if tinted, can only be a few inches.

I understand you concern as a cop, I make it a habit to always roll down all my windows when I get pull over and if its at night then turn on your interior lights, its just make the cop feel more safe and the dont have to appoach me with their hands on their gun. I think thats something all you guys should practice if you ever get pulled. PS: All 2 times I got pulled over I was let go with a warning :thumbup:

In MD you can tint the back windows and rear windows of a SUV/van as dark as you want. You just need to keep the front driver side and passenger windows at least 35%. However, most cars come with glass pre-tinted from the factory so technically if you go with 35% it is still illegal. I have had 20% and 35% on all my cars and have not had any problems. My bro on the other hand has had the same and they made him take it off. It all depends what type of A-hole pulls you over. - no disrespect to our fellow law enforcers here on X5 world:thumbup:
