Hazard light button / Cover

I have a 2001 X5, that I absolutely love. But - I also have a big ol' sloppy dog (Fred) that likes to ride in the passenger seat. He also likes to put his big paws on the middle console, over the cup holder when he looks out the window...

This is right where the door lock and hazard / flasher light buttons are. His big paws are constantely stomping on the hazard light button turning it on. Rather anoying driving down the road, looking down and my flashers are merrily blinking away because Fred once again turned then on accidentally. I'm sure other drivers must think I'm having car problems with my hazzards flashing..(but Fred's happy as all get out.)

Question. Is there a way to either disconnect the flashers physically by pulling off a wire, or pulling out a fuse? - or better, and anybody ever seen a cover of any sort that would fit over the flasher button to keep it save from Fred's paws stomping on it?

Thanks in advance for any ideas.

Take the hazard button out and unplug it from behind, that should sort the problem, or take a look at your fuse box and see if there is a seperate fuse just for the hazards. And welcome to X5world!!

:welcome:
My dog did that too when I had the E53. He also would lock and unlock the doors. I just pushed his paws off it. I would suggest not disconnecting the flashers, because you may be faced with a situation where you would need them. I use mine a lot :dunno:
But, like Suduesh said, you can pull out the switch and disconnect it from there.
enjoy your X5!
