Oil Change Vacuum Pumps?

Has anybody used a vacuum oil change pump on the X5 -- this invention appears to be really nice for an easier / cleaner oil change. I know some mechanics use it on MB.

Thoughts?

... doing a little search on Google:

I guess it really works. Hmm...

MB are a bitch to drain. they put hoses and other crap in the way. the x5 has the trap door on the under shield but the draining stream of oil will still hit it. :-(

Not at all required on the X5 since it is so easy to drain, you don't need a lift or ramps. If the trap door is in the way just remove it, it takes about 30 seconds and it clips back in after the drain plug is reinstalled.

does anyone know how to reset the light on oil change without going to the dealership?

antwade1:

Go to the top of the page and click HOME. Read the articles on changing the oil, and resetting the service light. Use any good synthetic 5W-30, preferably Castrol or Mobil 1.

Good luck.

Are you saying that you can crawl underneath the X5 without a jack or ramp to drain the oil?

Yes. I wear coveralls, and put a piece of cardboard down. Go in from the front, taking with you an oil drain pan that holds 9 litres. You are reaching for the second trap door from the front.
