100K Service?
I just hit 100,800 miles on my 01 4.4. I am thinking of keeping the X and would like to know if anyone has performened the 100k service at BMW? Is it worth it? They told me it would cost $1400. Need some advise or should I take it around to some local shops and see if they can do the same thing for less.

I hit 100k on my 3.0
I changed: spark plugs - $5 each x 6 = $30. Yours will be $40 since you are V8 Air Filter - $15 Cabin Filter - $20 Fuel Filter - $60 (this one was a pain in the ass so if you are not handy go to a mechanic and it will be around $150-300 labor). Oil change - $60 Bought the belts and hoses for $100 total. Haven't done those yet. IMO if BMW does everything above with the ADDITION of changing your fluids (power steering, brake)... then it can possibly be worth $1400. If they skip parts like the fuel filter ... waste of money big time |
Thanks for the feedback

Um, pump your brakes. You gave people 30 minutes to respond..before demanding help. This isn't a BMW 24/7 hotline. As for 100k service, if BMW says to do it, you should do it. You don't have to use a BMW dealer for service, just make sure an independent shop makes all the 100k requirements. |
Did you end up doign the 100k service--eurogreek1 ???
