3 days left in the X

In three days i will be off to college and parting with my better half until at least thanksgiving. I feel the separation anxiety already:bawling: Do you think it is wise to have my father drive it to work once a week? It would be a total of 20 miles a week. Should he drive it more??? I heard that problems rise when a car sits too long.

Thank you

how far is your school?

Let your dad drive it. Don't let it sit too long.

schools in Brooklyn and i live in southampton. Its not too far but bringing a car to the city is unnessecary.

Southampton has a lot of salt in the air, do you garage it?

WhiteWhip 08-15-2007 01:23 PM

Tell me about it. Its garaged during the week and on the weekends i hose underneath the car. Thats were the salt really eats the car.

As long as its garaged then having your dad drive it once or twice a week sounds like a good plan.

Your Dad's "20 miles a week" is probably not going to keep the
battery up to charge, imo.

I'd rec'd a Battery Tender and trickle charge it on occasion.

The car should be driven occasionally and brought up to full
operating temps with some regularity; I don't think 4 or 5 miles
a day/20 miles a week will do that. Tell him to drive it more!

I dunno. I took my X to my first year of college...

Couldn't have lived without it...

Yes, I think it's a good idea for your dad to drive at least once or twice a week. More importantly, good luck in school!
